Starlite Houseboats: Be careful
9-2-2010
While we often don’t have bad things to say about houseboat manufacturers, we feel it necessary to warn you about Starlite Houseboats. In the recent months, there have been a lot of complaints, frustrations and grievances with this houseboat manufacturer. It was taken over by Dennison State Bank and ever since then we have only heard bad things about this once prestigious company.
Starlite Houseboats are considered deceptive
We have heard from very resourceful people that Starlite Houseboats have been taking deposits for houseboats to be built and never returning the buyers with their very own houseboat. Frankly, as far as we are concerned, this is a complete breach of contract. People pay hard working money for their houseboats and then they are never delivered. Before you got to Starlite Houseboats, make sure you ask them for a specifically signed contract or ask around to see if anyone you know has had positive results with them. While we’re not telling you to completely avoid them, we are asking you to be careful.
Problems with Starlite Houseboats
A few of the most common complaints from customers, when and if they receive their houseboats from Starlite is the fact that they are no water worthy. They literally cannot be used. They come in a poor condition with cracks, the electrical gadgets do not work properly and other highly irritating problems. Before you accept your houseboat from Starlite, we suggest that you make a VERY close inspection of the houseboat. It would be wise to take a marine surveyor with, to make sure that the houseboat comes exactly as it was supposed to. Check the taps, check your air conditioner. It is better to be safe and cautious, then to just accept it without any thought of checking it. The trouble we have about Starlite vessels is that the resale value on the houseboats is shockingly low compared to their competitors.
