Small houseboats: Why Sometimes Size Doesn’t Matter.
Small houseboats are usually laughed at. Why would you want a small houseboat when you could get a big one, with a pool… okay, we’re exaggerating slightly but you get the drift? We’ve gotten the mentality that bigger is better. Smaller is… well not. However, in the houseboating world that just isn’t the case. Small houseboats are often sought after due to their versatility, affordability and practicality. They’re the perfect start for your world into houseboating. If you don’t want to rent a houseboat but you’d like to buy one then a small houseboat is for you.
Small Houseboats are the perfect start
Many people jump into the deep end when they buy a houseboat. By buying a smaller houseboat, you can enjoy all the benefits of having a houseboat while being safe and cautious. While it is far from difficult to operate a houseboat, to become a true expert takes time and patience. What better way to learn then on a smaller investment houseboat that you can afford to practice on. You can learn the ins and outs of houseboating, so the next time you buy a larger houseboat, you’ll know exactly what to look for.
Small Houseboats are less maintenance
Houseboats are like a car, they need to be driven, cleaned, washed, maintained and repaired. For this reason, a small houseboat is an obvious choice for low-key maintenance structure. It will take quicker to maintain a houseboat due to the smaller size, less time to clean. You save time while still being able to have a houseboat. The transport costs on a small houseboat are minimal. You do not need to have special transporting arranged as smaller houseboats are trailable. Due to the fact that you can operate the houseboat alone, your cost is also significantly reduced.
Small Houseboats are more practical
A big point about smaller houseboats is the fact that they are less expensive then larger houseboats. For the average consumer, this is an important factor. Most Americans cannot afford an expensive houseboat and this is a great option. If you have a small houseboat, more marinas will be able to dock it for you. These docks are also much less expensive then you would have to pay if you had a larger houseboat. Your insurance policies are less, because the size of the houseboat is smaller. The last and a very important practical reason for having a smaller houseboat is it costs much less to store the houseboat in winter.
Smaller houseboats are just as good, if not better then their larger counterparts.
