The Seacat Ferries are now under the control of Steam Packet Line Ferries that sails to the Isle of Man from UK and Ireland. The Steam Packet Line Ferries is the oldest ferry operator that serves routes to the island, and its acquisition of the Seacat Ferries even expands its operation to the island. The Seacat Ferries sails from Douglas to Belfast, Dublin, and Larne in Ireland and from Douglas to Heysham and Liverpool in United Kingdom. The ferries do not handle freight and coaches so that foot and car passengers can get in and out the ferry faster than other Steam Packet Line Ferries fleet.
Seacat service to the Isle of Man
During the peak season in the summer and the TT race, Steam Packet Line Ferries offer more trips to the island from United Kingdom and Ireland to compensate the surge of passengers. The fastcraft sailings are increased to two trips a day during these times. The fast Seacat Ferries are used for this purpose being able to travel from Heysham to the Isle of Man in just 2 hours compared to the 3 hours and 30 minutes needed by conventional Steam Packet Line ferries. During winter on the other hand, the fastcraft service is down to serve you during the weekends only.
Onboard the Seacat Ferries
The Seacat fastcrafts are complete with onboard restaurants serving warm, comforting meals while crossing the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man. There’s also a snack bar, bars, duty free shopping, and lounges onboard each Seacat ferries. Because Seacat Ferries do not accommodate freight and large vehicles, boarding and disembarking from the fastcrafts are quicker compared to conventional ferries. The Seacat ferry can accommodate 75 vehicles and 480 passengers and crew with plenty of space to stretch and walk around the ferry during the trip.
