Lazy Days Houseboats
The first Lazy Day houseboat was made in 1960 along Lake Lanier, at Georgie, Buford. This started their incredible history in the manufacturing of houseboats. In twenty short years, Lazy Days Houseboats become some of the most popular houseboats in the market. They were the first houseboat company to introduce the “Cadillac of Houseboats” which took the market by storm. They had started offering additional features that none of the other companies had thought of yet.
The end of Lazy Days Houseboats
In 1996, James Sharpe, a smart and educated business owner, bought out the Lazy Days Company so he could continue their fine tradition of houseboats. In 1987, the owner of Lazy Days opened up a new facility for manufacturing houseboats but he had a whole different set of plans for the company. Instead of continuing the Lazy Days line, he created the LazySummer boats which were the start for Sumerset Houseboats. We all know that Sumerset Houseboats are some of the best built and most luxurious houseboats in the world. With such a unique and creative start, how could they not be?

Due to the short lived life span of the company of Lazy Days houseboats, there are very few of the original boats that can actually be bought. However, it is a well known fact that over five hundred and twenty five hulls were created. A few of these have yet to be built into houseboats and can still be bought for reasonable prices. Imagine having a piece if history, so embedded in the houseboating industry, part of your future houseboat. It is well worth looking to see if you can find a Lazy Days houseboat hull to be the foundation of your perfect houseboat.
