Jet Ski Motor
In any vehicle, the prime mover is of utmost concern. In the case of a Jet Ski, the jet pump that propels the watercraft is operated by a motor that has a power rating that could be up to more than 250hp, basically because some riders prefers their Jet Skis to be at maximum possible speed. If a Jet Ski motor is not in good shape, the watercraft would be of not much use.
Motor
A Jet Ski motor is an internal combustion engine that converts energy from the fuel to mechanical energy. This energy produced is then used to run the jet pump of the watercraft, thus providing mobility to the vehicle. The motor basically consists of the combustion chamber, the piston assembly, and a transmission system.
Combustion
The combustion chamber of the Jet Ski motor is where fuel is “burned” so as it could be converted to mechanical energy by means of the piston assembly. The piston assembly then conveys this energy to the transmission system which then transmits the energy to the part of the system that needs power, which is, particularly, the pump. With the many processes involved in the production of power by the Jet Ski motor, there is a high probability that its output would be lessened by the time it reaches the jet pump. This is due to the inefficiencies brought about by the mechanical components and the friction between such parts. The motor, therefore, should be equipped with parts that will cause for it to have a high efficiency. Provision of quality spark plugs/starters, best fit gaskets, corrosion-resistant cylinders, and the likes would definitely help in increasing the efficiency of the Jet Ski motor.
Maintenance and Care
To keep the Jet Ski motor in its best condition, proper care and maintenance procedures should be observed. If you are to leave Jet Ski unused for a long time, make sure that even if it is in storage, you would still keep its parts lubricated regularly. Check the bearings, the motor oil, lubricants, gaskets, and all the other essentials so that the service life of your Jet Ski will be prolonged. Some special instructions for specific models may be possible, so you better check the user’s manual so you will know how to take care of your Jet Ski motor.
When you conduct regular inspection of the integral parts of the motor, you can ensure that your Jet Ski will run with no trouble at all.
