Dinghy Lift for Different Purposes
A dinghy lift does not only make your life easy, it keeps your dinghy high and dry when it’s not needed on the water, too. Although some dinghies can be light, especially the inflatable ones, they are still bulky enough to hurt your back if you try to lift them alone. And leaving your dinghy on the water if you’re not using it can diminish the life and luster of your boat. That’s why if you have a dinghy you need a dinghy lift. There are those that help you lift your dinghy to your yacht, keep them high and dry in your boat house, or those that function like a crane to move your dinghy.
Various Dinghy Lifts
Among the popular yacht dingy lift is the Sea Wise davit system that lifts and lowers a dinghy fast and can be operated by a single person only. The lift is mounted on a stainless steel pole with a hydraulic system that lifts and lowers the dinghy in a push of a button. For heavier dinghies and larger yachts, there’s a custom made attachable ramp that clings to the stern of the yacht. These contraptions can lift up to 1,200 kg of load, and they can be remote control operated for ease of use.
For boathouse owners, there is another type of dinghy lift which main purpose is to keep the dinghy high and dry if it’s not in use for longer periods at a time. This dinghy lift is attached to a drive pipe and overhead pulleys in the boathouse and is usually operated by an electric motor. The motor is used to lift a platform or cradle in which your dinghy will rest on high and dry avoiding damages caused by waves, marine growths, or corrosive elements from the water. A simplified version consisting of pulleys, joist, and ropes attached to the dinghy to hold it in the air is also available for lighter dinghies.
And a crane dinghy lift on the other hand is a more heavy duty lift used to hoist dinghy in the air and transfer it on the water, to another boat, or to a truck. This type of dinghy lift is also used in boat work shop garages to do heavy duty lifting. They can lift up to 3 tons of weight and the arm can swivel 360 degrees to maneuver a dinghy or a boat.
